IDF soldier stabbed to death in suspected terror attack

An IDF soldier was stabbed to death in a suspected terror attack on a bus at Afula's central bus station on Wednesday morning.

The suspect, a Palestinian, was apprehended and is in the custody of authorities.

The attack occurred on a bus that was traveling from Nazareth to Afula as it was entering the Afula central bus station.MDA paramedics transferred the victim to the Emek Medical Center in Afula in critical condition. He underwent surgery, but eventually succumbed to his wounds

Passengers on the bus were able to subdue the attacker and deliver him into the custody of security personnel at the bus station.

Police stated that the suspect is a 16-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank city of Jenin that had been illegally residing in Israel. He was being interrogated by security authorities.

According to police, the suspect confessed to police under questioning, saying that he carried out the attack to avenge several of his relatives who are serving time in Israeli prisons.

Northern District Police raised the level of alert at central bus stations and other areas with high concentrations of people in the region following the attack.
